I just wanted to send a quick message to say thank you for all of your help regarding organising Lucy and Clare’s visits to Ripley Court. We had such a wonderful World Book Day and a huge part of that was down to their presence. Clare was so warm, vivacious and had the children eating out of the palm of her hand and giggling with delight within seconds of them being sat down in the library. The Y5-Y6 Book Club absolutely loved her too, as did all the staff who met her! I feel every household needs her books and have already recommended her to teachers I know in other schools.

I strongly recommend that you email her and get her in when schools open up OR just buy her books! 

The themes she writes about are fantastic. Such a talented writer and she really cares about the content; so much so, that she has worked with Educational Psychologists to ensure that the advice she gives via the stories is relevant for children and links with the PSHE curriculum. I have already booked her again for next year and bought a set of her books!

We were very lucky to have author Clare Luther spend the day with us yesterday. Clare’s visit coincided with our book week at primary school. Her passion for well-being and mental health resonated deeply with the IB curriculum’s emphasis on holistic education. By encouraging children to openly discuss their feelings, she empowered them to prioritize their mental well-being – a crucial lesson for young learners. Clare’s incorporation of her book series, “The Little Paws Hotel” and “The Animorals,” seamlessly connected literature with various units across the primary school curriculum. Her books not only entertained but also served as valuable tools for instilling important values such as empathy, curiosity, and open-mindedness. Clare’s presence as an author served as a powerful reminder of the impact of storytelling in education. Her ability to engage students and spark their imagination undoubtedly left a lasting impression. Additionally, her connection to ‘Speaking of Books’ provides educators with a convenient avenue to invite her for future events.

Wow! What an incredible and valuable session from Clare and I feel we could all learn something from her style and enthusiasm. Clare had a large group of children with SEND and Behaviour concerns in her session and yet every single child stayed interested and engaged throughout her session. Clare’s story, props, reading style and energy captured the room including all of the supporting adults. The story and session was interesting and interactive.

Clare was amazing, the children were absolutely in awe of her! From the moment they stepped into the hall, she connected with them and made them feel comfortable, happy and involved. Clare shared the story ‘Peggy’ which was perfect for our Reception cohort as the children could easily relate to it. – .
